Interesting Christmas Decoration

"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas  decorations. The bad news is that I had to take  them down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."

Bruce,
Thanks for telling us about your snow travels to the radio station.

On days like this, I recall a snow storm in 1947, five years before I was born.
Fresh out of the service in Germany, my dad was called upon to drive home the relatives who were visiting his neighbors.
This past June, he drove nearly the same route, back from his granddaughter and my god daughter niece's graduation.
As he did, he described his 1947 adventure to Mom and me.

Our neighbor's cousins had left their coal mining jobs for the weekend to visit ...., NY.
On Sunday, Dad took them home, but there were no accommodations for him in Appalachia.
So he turned around and headed back at night from Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania (which he can pronounce, but I can't.)
His trusty Mercury sedan had windshield wipers that gave him some vision during the raging snow storm.
His Mapquest consisted of a real paper map.
The two lane road was barely plowed, as he trudged through all night to return at dawn.
How he made it is still a mystery!

When I put my SUV in cruise control on Route 84, and listen to my GPS directions and WJMJ, I never complain about driving conditions.
Something in my blood puts it in prospective.
Pete

And on the other time line of my life are our Kids' Kids.

We can't wait for Christmas with them!
