Subject: The weather report

>The National Weather Service
>
>
>It was November, and the Indians on a remote reservation asked their new
>Chief
>if the winter was going to be cold or mild.
>
>Since he was a Chief in a modern society he had never been taught the old
>secrets, and when he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the weather
>was going to be.  Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe
>that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the
>village should be prepared and collect wood.
>After several days though, he got an idea.  Being a practical leader of a
>modern tribe, he called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the
>coming winter going to be cold?"
>
>
>"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the
>Meteorologist at the Weather Service responded.  So the Chief went back to
>his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be
>prepared.
>
>
>One week later he called the National Weather Service again.  "Is it going
>to be a very cold winter?" he asked.
>"Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be
>a very cold winter."
>
>The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every
>scrap of wood they could find.
>
>Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again.  "Are you
>absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"
>
>Absolutely," the man replied.  "It looks like it's going to be one of the
>coldest winters ever."
>
>"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.
>
>The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy

   Senility Prayer

God grant me the senility

To forget the people

I never liked anyway.

The good fortune

To run into the ones I do

And the eyesight

To tell the difference.

My fourth and final public Aaron Burr / Alexander Hamilton duel reenactment was performed this past week.

I've enjoyed informing people about Burr, and now I move onto ---what????

Dear Peter:

It is indeed incredible…what a wonderful response we realized as a result of your generosity of time, expertise and spirit.

But, even more incredible is your knowledge of this interesting person and his life and your ability to share it so well with others. Everyone who was at the event made certain to come over and thank us for making this event possible.  You were informative, but not overwhelming. Rather you brought interesting facts, insights and humor to your presentation.

The Columbia University Club of Fairfield County wants to thank you for your integral participation in this very worthwhile well enjoyed Second Wednesday event. It would have completely perfect if Mary would have been there…but next time.

We look forward to seeing you soon.  All the very best to you and Mary.

One thing I'm looking forward to is our upcoming vacation.

I'm glad Mary didn't get those discount airline tickets.

I wasn't impressed with the pictures on their web site:
