Best E-mails of the Week 10/19/03

My brother Lou continues to be the funniest guy I know. He and I spoke about computer breakdowns, and we traded horror stories.

He noted that his son Tom took a new printer to college, but the software would not work, so he hooked his computer up to his roommate's printer.  Years later he simply threw the old printer out unused.

But Lou said that his youngest son Dan's printer was the worst.  Just look a it wrong and it would bleed black ink.

As Lou and Dan set it up in Dan's college dorm room, there was a big puddle of black ink on the desk under it.

They cleaned it up, but a few months later when Dan went to move his printer, he picked it up and his hands got black with ink from the underside.  So Dan put the entire printer in a big plastic bag, and threw it in the garbage pail.

Such are the expenses for college now days :)

Here's a true email from my Godfather and Uncle John.

(I'm Peter John after Dad and him.)

Uncle John was a Navy sailor in the Pacific during World War II

while dad was a soldier in Europe.

All six of my uncles were or are veterans

just like my wife Mary!

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag,

GOD BLESS AMERICA   !!!! THE LAND OF THE FREE !!!!

Mary and Peter,

I was curious as to whether you two considered Silestone for your new kitchen.

Gretchen put it in hers, and it is beautiful.  Reminds me of your black granite in your previous house.

 I really like it; thinking about getting rid of my butcher block countertop this winter and upgrading;

maybe go with this Silestone.  What do you think?

Thanks Sue. Building a house with the internet is fun!

Now if 1/2" plywood would only go back down from $27 per sheet in October to $12 like in August!

.

St. Peter's Square to honor the pope's 25th year.

Pope John Paul II will be the topic of discussion for my 6th grade CCD class Wednesday afternoon.

Here's a picture of Magda and Chris just married.  Did you see my wedding photos on Bestemails 09/28/03?

At the reception, Greg shows Raf a very important and sophisticated photo he took with his phone, right?

The NYTimes had a good article on people using their phones to take pictures of anybody walking on the sidewalk.

Maybe a little too much technology for frivolous purposes? (unlike Bestemails that only has necessary stuff, right?)
