Gates Talks Up Technology
Microsoft Founder Promotes Comp Sci Careers, Newest Products in Speech

By Josh Hirschland
Spectator Staff Writer
October 14, 2005

Never accuse Bill Gates of thinking small.

In a two-hour visit to Alfred Lerner Hall, cut short by rain that delayed his trip from a similar engagement at the University of Waterloo, Gates spoke to University President Lee C. Bollinger, faculty in the department of computer science, and students about the future of technology.

Gates tried to get the campus energized about the future of jobs, software, and product advancement in computer science. The highlight of his visit was a speech to more than 1,000 students in Roone Arledge Auditorium, in which he focused on the idea that computer science innovation has not plateaued....

Dear Members of the CESAA Board,
Zvi asked me to forward to you his message to faculty and students about
the Bill Gates lecture yesterday.  It was an event for the SEAS record books!

********************

To SEAS faculty and students,

Bill Gates was here yesterday and spent several hours on campus.
He had a meeting with 15 SEAS faculty and then a lecture to students.
I had the honor and pleasure to em-cee both.

The meeting of the faculty had to be shortened, since Gates was late
because of the weather....

The lecture is on. See:

The annual Aaron Burr Association meeting was held in Valley Forge

Here I am with three of the Burr relatives and another history buff.

That night my siblings in DC went to the Paul McCartney concert.

the best concert I have ever seen. At 63, he is still full of energy.

He sang happy birthday to John Lennon who would have been 65 that weekend.

I love the second song on his new CD.

When you read his name upside down,

it still reads Paul McCartney!

Here we are at Tom and Ann's.

See you in a coupla weeks,
