Best E-mails of the Week

Oct 15, 2006

Thanks for showing us the wine making on last week's Best Emails Lou.

Now that you went back to work, we see you had an interesting time with Alec Baldwin.

Was he special enough to cross the police line after the Yankee pitcher crashed into the NYC high rise?

Actually Lou reports that the media distorted this picture.

It was on Reuters and Yahoo etc, implying that Alec Baldwin was obnoxious.

Lou tells us Baldwin was actually well behaved, and could not have been nicer.

Marathon runner and legend Bill Rodgers spoke in our town last week.

When I showed up, neighbor Scott was talking to him, and they posed for my camera phone.

Bill's stories about his high school cross country days and then not running after college

and smoking Winston's were great.

Then he started practicing tough, and came in 14th in the Boston Marathon.

The next year in '75 he won it. He also won it 3 more times plus the NYC marathon.

He went to the 76 Olympics and is just a great Ambassador for long distance running.

At 58, he runs about 20 10K races a year.

When he spoke to Rosie Ruiz at the winners stand, he was amazed that she knew nothing of training,

and that she seemed to have no muscle tone.

But you don't need that to win when you can take the subway instead. :)

Scott,

Thank you and Camilla for Monday night while Mary was in MN visiting her dad.

I was walking home from the post office and newspaper store when I passed your house.

You two were sitting on your front porch drinking wine.

You immediately invited me up for some too.

Then you hosted the artist currently displaying at the local gallery and your mutual friends to dinner.

How nice of you to invite me as a sixth to the salmon and Camilla's home made lasagna.

Mary and I are blessed with special friends.

I also have a special distant cousin who tracked me down on Google from Australia.
