Have you noticed how ridiculous the new costumes are?

13 years ago, we had great costumes.

Mary as Dorothy Gale.

Raf Scarecrow.

Greg Tin Man.

That's David B. with us.

Pete,

I thought the analogy of a Christian was unique.

You may want to share it on your website.

>>>Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.   God lifts you up,
>>>takes you in,
>>>and washes all the dirt off of you.   He opens you up, touches you
>>>deep
>>>inside, and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of
>>>doubt,
>>>hate, greed, etc.    Then He carves you a new smiling face and
>>>puts His
>>>light inside you to shine for all the world to see. This was
>>>passed on to me
>>>from another pumpkin.   Now it is your turn to pass it to a
>>>pumpkin.   I
>>>liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch.
>>>Happy Fall!

WINE MAKING  !

We had a great time at Lou and Lynn's.

They are making wine in the tradition of both my grandfathers.

Lou in his wine cellar that he built into the side of a hill.

It is a dirt  and masonry cellar that copies the one Uncle Joe and Aunt Marion had from the 1950's.

Last year's wines are stored here.  And everything is climate controlled.

Here are the wine boxes. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

These are the grapes that have been crushed, and are fermenting now.

The sugar content on Sunday was 5 %.

Those fermenting grapes give off heat we could feel with our hands.

Lou stirs it twice a day so that it does not build up a top layer, but ferments evenly.

Lou tests the sugar level with a sample.

We did not compress the grapes at 5% sugar, but Lou will patiently wait until the sugar level goes to zero probably tomorrow.

The compressor / squeezer is also identical to ones the grandpas used.

Did I give credit to photographer Michael who took these great pictures?

Another nice job Michael !

This is an antique crusher for display only, - similar to the kinds my two grandfathers used.

This is the crusher Lou used.

Cleaned off from when it was used last week.

Everything is completely sanitized.

Some of the big bottles .

Here are the washed bottles ready to receive the wine soon.

Lou made this wash sink with copper plumbing to wash each bottle.

The hose is attached and spigot opened. Lou soldered all the connections.

From above, he places the upside down glass bottles which get an even spray and drain off.

Ingenious invention Lou !

This is the automatic corking machine.

We all know how to remove a cork with a corkscrew, but here's how they install the cork in the first place.

Lynn designed the label for last year's wines, and the expected 100 plus bottles for next year.

Does the picture on the label look familiar?

It's the wine cellar from their back yard.

Congratulations Lou and Lynn on a terrifically successful family project !

Enjoy your vino in good health !

Happy October !

Chuck, we are so pleased you are home from the hospital.

Pete
