LIGHTS ON.....9/11

PLEASE forward this email to everyone in your address book asking them
to also forward it. Please join us on 9/11. We have over two weeks to get
the word out all across this great land we love and call the United
States of America. Let's see how powerful e-mail can be!

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 everyone in the USA who
will be driving a motor vehicle is asked to drive with their headlights
on during daylight hours. Though no explanation is needed as to why we
are commemorating  September 11, we hope more importantly to pay
respect to the victims of that day, show our nation's solidarity and
show support for our men and women of the Armed Forces.
You can help by sending this e-mail on to others!

REMEMBER!

Pete, some interesting tidbits that I think your weekly viewers would be interested in...Sue

 INTERESTING GEOGRAPHY
Alaska
More than half of the coastline of the entire United States is in Alaska.

Amazon
The Amazon Rain Forest produces more than 20% the world's oxygen supply.  The Amazon River pushes so much water into the Atlantic Ocean that more than one hundred miles at sea off the mouth of the river one can dip fresh water out of the ocean.  The volume of water in the Amazon River is greater than the next eight largest rivers in the world combined and three times the flow of all rivers in the United States.

Antarctica
Antarctica is the only land on our planet that is not owned by any country.  Ninety percent of the world's ice covers Antarctica.  This ice also represents seventy percent of all the fresh water in the world.  As strange as it sounds, however, Antarctica is essentially a desert.  The average yearly total precipitation is about two inches.  Although covered with ice (all but 0.4% of it, i.e.), Antarctica is the driest place on the planet -- with an absolute humidity lower than the Gobi desert.

Brazil
Brazil got its name from the nut -- not the other way around.

Canada
Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined. Canada is an Indian word meaning " Big Village."

Los Angeles
Los Angeles's full name is El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angelesde Porciuncula -- and can be abbreviated to 3.63% of its size:  L.A.

New York City
The term "The Big Apple" was coined by touring jazz musicians of the 1930's who used the slang expression "apple" for any town or city.  Therefore, to play New York City is to play the big time -- The Big Apple.  There are more Irish in New York City than in Dublin, Ireland; more Italians in New York City than in Rome, Italy; and more Jews in New York City than in Tel Aviv, Israel .

Ohio
There are no natural lakes in the state of Ohio -- every one is man-made.

Siberia

S.M.O.M .
The actual smallest sovereign entity in the world is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta ( S.M.O.M.).  It is located in the city of Rome, Italy, has an area of two tennis courts, and as of 2001 has a population of 80 -- 20 less people than the Vatican.  It is a sovereign entity under international law, just as the Vatican is.

Sahara Desert
In the Sahara Desert , there is a town named Tidikelt, which did not receive a drop of rain for ten years.  Technically though, the driest place on Earth is in the valleys of the Antarctic near Ross Island.  There has been no rainfall there for two million years.

Texas

United States

Waterfalls
The water of Angel Falls (the World's highest) in Venezuela drops 3,212 feet (979 meters).  They are 15 times higher than Niagara Falls.

Thanks Liz for this nice picture of Mom Flo with her siblings.

JW and Chuck pay this toss game at Liz and Dan's. Is it 5 points for the string ball settling on the top wrung, three for the middle and one for the bottom?

Yesterday, we heard the story about the water bugs that crawled around in the mud at the bottom of a pond. They noticed that whenever one of the bugs crawled up the lily pad, it never came back down.  So they made an agreement that the next time one of them went up the lily pad, he would return to tell the others what was there. A bug then proceeded up resolved to keep his pledge. When he reached the surface of the pond, he sprouted wings and became a dragon fly.  He began flying around and around.  He remembered his promise, so he dived into the water, but with the wings, he just bounced off the surface time and again.  He could look down below the water and see his family and friends, but knew they could not see him.

Similarly, when my good friend 50 year old Wayne passed away from us because of cancer this week, we know that he is like the dragon fly, okay and looking down on us from heaven.  He is waiting for us to sprout our wings and join him.

How good a coach is Chris Palmer?
His new job is to be Giants Quarterback coach

Although the Giants were losing, it was certainly no fault of his own. At the time of his injury, Manning had completed 28 passes for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns -- he added two yards on one rush for good measure. It had been, by far, the greatest performance of his NFL career.
