Thanks to everyone who wished us the best for our Silver Anniversary!

We so enjoyed having Mom, Dad, Lou, Mary and Joanne over to celebrate.

And thank you five for your lovely gifts to us.

We particularly enjoyed these framed photos Joanne gave us- of us 30 years ago, one that we had not seen.

And we like the card messages depicting a happy future beyond the first 25 years of our marriage.

Mary and I plan to continue that love for each other.

LABOR DAY 1979:

Dear Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Justin,
Thanks so much for remembering us on our 25th.
Mary and I played golf at the country club in the afternoon, and when we returned, we saw a notice on our door that the florist had stopped by.
Mary called them to say we were home, and we wondered who the thoughtful sender could be.
Later, the beautiful purple arrangement arrived with variegated ivy that we will replant and care for.
I called and left a message thanking you.

When Mom, Dad, Lou, Mary and Joanne arrived at night, they admired the lovely gift you sent.

So thank you again for adding to our happy day.

We will remember that the ivy originated from Ivy Hill Road.

Have a Happy Labor Day weekend,
Love,
Mary and Pete

100 Combines

Record setting harvest was done in 2008, in Norton, Kansas

160 acres was harvested with 100 combines and several grain trucks in 10

minutes and 15 seconds.

This record will be entered in the Guinness World Book.

Proceeds of this crop is to be sent to a kids camp.

That's how we get it done in Kansas. Pass this on to all your farmer friends

(especially the John Deere fanatics)!

Thanks Ray! Too bad your Governor Sebelius was not selected to be VP.

I thought a woman would be on the ticket!

And further south are oil rig platforms in the way of Gustav:
