Best Emails of the Week

July 23, 2006

To all,

Sorry for omitting dad's room number on the email that I sent from Liz's computer.  It was a very emotional day moving (and leaving) dad at the .... Care Center.

As you can see from the pics, it is very bright in his room and I think the four of us got it fixed up pretty nice.  He has a large wardrobe to the right of his bed in the pic, and the bathroom that he and his roommate Merle share is very large.   There are two very nice sitting areas outside; one is shown with Liz, Dan and Manfred sitting with dad.  That one is not covered but is very near the veggie and flower gardens.  The other one is covered and I have dad sitting alone on that pic; they have picnics for about eight residents at a time in that location.  The staff takes turns having the residents picnic outside which I thought was very nice.

The dining room is very nice also.  I think in time dad will  get comfortable there.   His first day was overwhelming and that is understandable.   The food smelled scrumptious for dad's first lunch/dinner meal (2 huge scoops of mashed potatoes, several swedish meatballs, corn and green beans, bread and jello (and all the coffee and milk he wanted to drink).  Dad ate all of it up.  I noticed that his appetite is 'very' good, and he said he wanted another piece of bread.  Once they dish the residents up they take the food carts away, so I told dad he needs to ask for more of something as they are dishing him up in the future.  I also told the head nurse that he would like two pieces of bread if possible.

Our plane was 1 1/2 hours late last evening, but we got home just fine and it is good to be home, even if the weather is very hot and humid here.  The weather was so pleasant in Minnesota that we hated to leave.  Liz and Dan have worked so hard on their yard; it looks very nice, and we enjoyed sitting outside on their new deck area.  Liz and Dan, thanks again for your generous and warm hospitality!

Love to all...Sue & Manfred

I haven't seen him yet but thought I would forward you the picture.

Magda

Magda, we had such a nice time with Peter in 1989 and at your wedding. His son looks great!

I never knew our last pope's name was translated as Charles. Maybe your nephew here will be pope someday!

Or at least enjoy his life in the wonderful country of Poland.

Here is the photo I told you about a few months ago. It finally arrived to me.

Justice Scalia was so nice to pose with his son Eugene, me, Stuart and Katherine.

Isn't the reception room in the Supreme Court Building beautiful?

I have a back pack over my shoulder, that messed up my suit jacket.

It had the book on the 1807 treason trial that I gave to my friend Antonin. ;}

Happy Birthday Dad.

What a nice day to have your children and grandchildren together.

Here are pictures I took

Pete
