Hello Family,
Elyse's Senior Prom was this weekend. Elyse wanted to have a dress that made
her look like a "Cupcake Princess" (puffy skirt with sparkles). She started
shopping for a dress on Monday evening. She found her perfect dress by
Thursday at our local bridal shop, had it altered and picked it up Friday
evening. Her Plan B, if she could not find her perfect dress within 48 hours
of the Prom, was to wear my Princess Diana 1980's style wedding dress. It has
a puffy skirt AND puffy sleeves! Needless to say, her date was not crazy
about going to a Prom in wedding attire. I think he was afraid we were going
to trick him into a quickie ceremony, shuttle them out the door, change the
locks and off-load Elyse on him so he would have to pay her college tuition
instead of us. Luckily, Elyse did not have to resort to Plan B after all and
picked her own dress as befitting of her own beauty.
Cast of Characters:
Elyse - our princess who dyed the front of her hair purple to match her dress.
Mike - Elyse's date who is a (college) freshman...,
majoring in history. He's a local ... boy.
Heather - the other purple princess. One of Elyse's best friends. They met
each other when they were 2 and have stayed best friends since. She will be
moving out of state ... to attend college in the
Fall.
Wesley - Heather's Prom date. He lives around the corner from us. He and
Elyse have been in Marching Band together since freshmen year. He will be
attending college in the Fall.
They had planned to eat at Taco Bell in all their finery before the Prom, but
Heather's parents nixed that idea. They returned to our house for dessert and
hanging out after the Prom. In keeping with Elyse's Princess theme, I served
a bakery sheet cake that had plastic figurines of 4 different Disney
princesses on top. I figured they would each have a plastic princess to keep,
but Mike and Wesley declined to take theirs.
Hope all is well with you,
the parents of the Princess (Ann and Tom)

When our Energy Task Force heard a Climate Change
presentation, they noted that one cause is the increase in population.
This video addresses that population change:
