This year we will be hosting the inaugural 4th of July Pine Wood Derby.  The races will be held after dinner as a substitute for fireworks.  The track will be available all day to test run and fine tune your cars.

1: The overall length of the car shall not exceed 8 inches

2: The overall width at the car’s widest point shall not exceed 3 inches

3: The wheels on the car must have 1 3/4” clearance between them.

*this is for side to side measurements NOT front to back

4: The car must have 3/8” ground clearance so that it does not rub on the guide rail.

5: The TOTAL weight of the car AT RACE TIME cannot exceed 7.5 ounces.

6: There will be an OFFICIAL scale provided at the track on the day of the race.

7: All measurements taken by the OFFICIAL scale will be final.

*wood type (pine, oak, maple, etc. is up to the builder)

10: The wheels on the car must be free spinning. Uncle Pete, listen very closely to this rule. There will be NO NONE ZIP ZERO MOTORS or ENGINES of any sort

allowed.

11: Once your car has been deemed passable and race worthy it can only be touched by the to be named RACEMASTER.

12: If your car should be damaged in a race only then may you touch it to make the necessary repairs.  After repairs are complete you car must undergo inspection before being allowed to race again.

13: You MUST BUILD YOUR CAR YOURSELF.  There are car kits available for purchase  online.  These are fine as long as you assemble and paint them yourselves.

*****ANY CAR THAT VIOLATES ANY OR ALL OF THESE RULES WILL BE PLACED ON THE STUMP OF SHAME AND DISHONOR AND BE SMASHED WITH A LARGE HAMMER WHILE EVERYONE WHO ISN’T A FILTHY LIAR AND CHEATER POINTS AND LAUGHS AT THE HORRIBLE INDIVIDUAL WHO WOULD CHEAT IN A FAMILY ORGANIZED COMPETITION*****

Everyone is encouraged to build and race a car.  The more cars we have the more fun this will be.  We will try to have prizes/trophies of some sort for the event.  We will give out awards for coolest paint, most unique, and best overall car as well.  In order to vote for those 3 awards you must have a car entered in the race.

The actual Race Brackets will be determined that day once we know how many cars we have.

We will provide a work station for you to use during the day if you wish to make any modifications to your car after testing it out on the track.

Above all have fun and good luck!!!!!!

(knowing our family your gonna need it)

PS Lou, How did you know there was $588.00 worth of quarters in that stack?

You asked me how I figured out that there is $588.00 worth of quarters in that coin stack.

Simple.. according to Answers.com  5 quarters equals almost exactly 1 ounce.

So i turned my monitor off and weighed it.. Then I went back to the Best Emails site and brought up the coin sculpture and weighed my monitor again. After that it was simple math..  convert the difference in the weight to ounces,      multiply times 5 to get the number of coins then divide by 4 to get the dollar amount.
