3 simple questions to determine if someone is having a Stroke

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately,
the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer
brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three
simple questions:

*Ask the individual to smile.

*Ask him or her to raise both arms.

*Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately
and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify
facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the
general public to learn the three questions.

They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's
annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result
in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

For those of you who liked the cigar picture two weeks ago, the boys, Jerry and I got Mary to try one too, as Greg documented below. You go girl!

Perhaps the first and last one she will ever smoke!

Mary and Pete,

I absolutely LOVE that picture.  That goes to show, you have to go on more cruises, Mary.  We'd like to go with you next time you go.  Let us know.

From time to time, I've been known to toke on a 'cognac dipped miniature cigar' just for the heck of it.  Proves we have the willpower to toke and quit!

Love you guys!!! Sue & Manfred

Walking across a snowy Boston Common on Saturday. Gov. Mitt Romney declared a state of emergency in Massachusetts.

Pedestrians around the city (NYC), including these in the East Village trudging across St. Mark's Place,

experienced the season's first heavy snowfall.

But the cold weather didn't stop the Patriots from beating the Steelers today.

There will be a rematch of the Pats Eagles game that Raf and I saw preseason at Foxboro.

"Here's Tom Brady and the Super Bowl Champ Patriots beating the Eagles at Foxboro in preseason."

Raf, I hope you still have that Rodney Harrison jersey you bought there!

Tom Brady

Reuters

· Player: Tom Brady, Patriots
· Role: Iceman.
· Why He'll Dominate: This QB already has two Super Bowl MVPs, and there's two good reasons why a third one might be in his future. His calmness under fire and his play-making ability will trouble the Eagles.

Adam Vinatieri

AP

· Player: Adam Vinatieri, Patriots
· Role: Mr. Clutch.
· Why He'll Dominate: This kicker is arguably the greatest postseason kicker ever. He's won two Super Bowls with last-second field goals shows the pressure from the world's biggest stage doesn't get to him.

Rodney Harrison

AP

· Player: Rodney Harrison, Patriots
· Role: Sheriff.
· Why He'll Dominate: With either a hard tackle or a game-changing interception, this strong safety helps anchor the Patriots defense. His INT return for a touchdown in the AFC title game sparked New England.
